Dhaka, Feb. 11 -- Emergency workers have doused a fire that swept through a shoe factory in Dhaka's Shyampur.

The fire erupted at the Majumdar Traders factory on road No. 6 of Shyampur BSCIC around 5:00 am on Tuesday.

The Fire Service swiftly responded to the incident, with the first firefighting unit arriving at the scene within eight minutes.

Six more units later joined the operation and tamed the flames after a two-hour effort around 7:20 am, according to Fire Service Media Cell official Anwarul Islam Dolon.

Kazi Nazmuzamman, assistant director of the Fire Service and Civil Defence Department, said the factory was a recycling facility for old sandals.
