Dhaka, Dec. 24 -- Ferry movement on the Paturia-Daulatdia river route was suspended early this morning due to dense fog, disrupting communication with the southern districts of the country.

Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) Paturia Ghat Assistant General Manager (AGM) Abdus Salam said ferry operations on the route were suspended from 6:15am as dense fog covered the Padma river, severely reducing visibility.

He said the decision was taken to avoid any untoward incidents, reports BSS.

AGM Abdus Salam said four ferries-Shah Paran, Shah Keramat Ali, Khan Jahan Ali and Bir Sreshtha Ruhul Amin-remained stranded at the Paturia ghat with vehicles and passengers on board.
