Dhaka, March 31 -- Information Advisor Mahfuj Alam's father Azizur Rahman Bachchu Mollah, a local BNP leader, has been attacked in Lakshmipur's Ramganj Upazila.

The assault, which took place at the Narayanpur village of Ichhapur Union on Sunday, left him with an injury to his hand.

The assault has sparked protests and raised tensions between rival political factions in the area, reports bdnews24.com.

Following the incident, the Anti-discrimination Student Movement organised a demonstration at the Upazila headquarters around 10:30pm, demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible.
