Dhaka, July 8 -- An elderly man and his son were killed and another son was injured in a road accident in front of Nur Jahan Hotel at Chariya Madhyapara area in Salanga Police Station of Sirajganj district on Tuesday.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Mannan Khandaker, 70, and his son Jewel Khandaker, 35, resident of Purnabera village of Salanga Police Station, reports BSS.

The accident took place on the Hatikumrul-Banpara highway early this morning when a truck hit an auto rickshaw, leaving its two passengers dead on the spot and injured another, said Abdur Rouf, Officer-in Charge of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station.

Locals rescued the injured, Russell Khandaker, eldest son of the deceased, and sent him to a local hospital.
