Dhaka, June 1 -- Former BCB president Faruque Ahmed has moved the High Court challenging the legality of Aminul Islam's appointment as a director of the Bangladesh Cricket Board.

The writ was filed on Sunday, Prothom Alo reported. A hearing may take place on Monday, Faruque's lawyer Md Ruhul Quddus was quoted by the daily as saying.

The National Sports Council (NSC) cancelled Faruque's nomination on 29 May and appointed former national captain Aminul Islam the next day.

Faruque has sought a rule asking why the NSC's decisions should not be declared beyond legal authority. He also requested a stay on their implementation.

The petition names the Youth and Sports Secretary and five others, including the BCB, as respondents.
