Dhaka, March 19 -- The High Court has acquitted former state minister for Home Affairs Lutfozzaman Babar from 17 years of imprisonment in a case over recovery of arms from his Gulshan house around 21 years back.
An HC bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Nasrin Akter passed the order on Wednesday after disposing of a rule in this regard, said the defendant's lawyer Mohammad Shishir Manir.
According to the case statement, law enforcers had recovered "illegal arms and several rounds of bullets from his bedroom" at his Gulshan residence on May 28, 2007, reports UNB.
On June 3, a case was filed accusing him with Gulshan police station in this regard.
