Dhaka, May 10 -- Prices of eggs and vegetables continued to rise over the past week, while rice prices witnessed a slight decline.
Boro paddy harvest has begun in different districts across the country. Millers have started releasing their old stock in large volumes, which has led to a slight drop in prices, traders said.
Prices of BRRI Dhan 28 and Miniket varieties have declined by Tk 4.0-5.0 per kg. BRRI Dhan 28 is being retailed at Tk 66-68 a kg and Miniket at Tk 78-90 a kg.
However, coarse rice is still selling at the previous high of Tk 58-62 per kg in Dhaka.
Limon Hossain, a rice trader at Mohammadpur Agriculture Market, said millers are offloading their old stock to make room for freshly harvested boro rice.
