Dhaka, Oct. 10 -- Renowned educationist, fiction writer and essayist Syed Manzoorul Islam has passed away.

He breathed his last around 5pm on Friday while undergoing treatment at LabAid Hospital in the capital, Prothom Alo reports, citing Mazharul Islam, Chief Executive of Anyaprokash.

Syed Manzoorul Islam was an Emeritus Professor at the Department of English, University of Dhaka, and one of Bangladesh's respected literary figures.
