Dhaka, July 26 -- Dr Mohammad Jahangir Alam, professor in the Department of World Religions and Culture at Dhaka University (DU), died of a cardiovascular disease at Kunming Airport in China on July 23.
According to a press release issued by the university's Public Relations Office on Thursday (July 24), Dr Jahangir Alam was 48 years old at the time of his death.
Dr Jahangir had traveled to South Korea on July 17 to attend the 7th Annual Programme of the Daesoon Academy of Sciences (DAOS). He was on his return journey when the incident occurred.
Expressing deep sorrow, DU Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Sayema Haque Bidisha said, "Dr Jahangir was an honest and accomplished teacher."
