Dhaka, July 24 -- Dhaka University (DU) English Department students on Wednesday staged a protest demanding the sacking of their teacher Dr. Neelima Akhter over controversial statements regarding the July Uprising.

The students marched through the Arts Faculty while chanting slogans and writing protest messages on their department's walls, expressing anger over the teacher's alleged remarks in class and on her social media channel.

The students accused Dr. Neelima of siding with authoritarian forces and "showing hostility towards student-led movements."
