Dhaka, May 14 -- Angry locals set fire to the house of Tamim Howlader, arrested for the murder of Dhaka University student Shahriar Alam Shammo, in Brahmandi village, Madaripur, on Wednesday evening.
Around 7pm, a group of protesters, including Chhatra Dal supporters, set fire to two properties owned by Tamim and his family, witnesses said, Prothom Alo reports.
Tamim Howlader, 30, from Brahmandi village, was arrested alongside two others: Polash Sardar, 30, from Brahmandi, and Somrat Mollick, 28, from Shoshikor village, Madaripur.
Fire services contained the blaze after being alerted.
Madaripur Chhatra Dal Convenor Md Zakir Hossain said he had heard about the fire but did not know if Chhatra Dal members were involved.
