Dhaka, Feb. 2 -- Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has explained the laying of a red carpet-like mat for advisers to board a floating excavator during a canal renovation ceremony in the capital's Mirpur-13.

The paths to the excavator were steep, muddy and slippery, and so the red carpet-like mat was laid for them to board it safely, it said in a press release on Sunday amid controversy.

Earlier, during the canal renovation event, Advisers Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adilur Rahman Khan and Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan boarded the excavator.
