Dhaka, May 9 -- Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in a statement on Friday expressed regret over police visit to the residence of missing BNP leader Md. Sajedul Islam Sumon at Shahinbagh in Dhaka to execute a pending warrant.

Sub Inspector (SI) Md. Akram Hossain, who visited the residence of the BNP leader, has already been withdrawn from his duty, reports UNB.

According to the DMP statement, all officers involved were recently recruited and were unaware that the residence belonged to Md. Sajedul Islam Sumon, who has been missing for over a decade.

"This unexpected situation occurred due to the team's lack of prior knowledge regarding the missing BNP leader," the DMP explained.
