Dhaka, July 25 -- Dhaka University Prof Mohammad Jahangir Alam of the Department of World Religions and Culture has died due to heart-related complications at China's Kunming Changshui International Airport.

Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, acting director of the Dhaka University Public Relations Office, confirmed the news in a statement on Friday.

Jahangir had gone to South Korea on July 17 to take part in an international conference, the statement said.

On his way back from the conference, Jahangir was afflicted by heart-related complications at the Chinese airport on July 23. He was 48 years old.

The Dhaka University administration has expressed condolences at the sudden death of the professor, according to a bdnews24.com report.
