Dhaka, Dec. 27 -- The capital on Friday experienced a fall in the mercury, while a mild cold wave swept over some parts of the country, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
As temperatures fell in Dhaka, people thronged shopping malls and makeshift roadside stalls to buy warm clothes.
The elderly and children suffered from cold-related illnesses.
Dhaka saw the highest temperature of 20.8 degrees Celsius, while the lowest was 13.5 degrees Celsius.
The country's lowest temperature was recorded at 9.0 degrees Celsius in Jashore, with a mild cold wave felt across the district.
