Dhaka, Nov. 28 -- Distinguished Fellow of the Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya has strongly criticised the interim government for recently signing deals with foreign companies on leasing out management of two ports.

Speaking as the chief guest at a book-launching ceremony on Thursday, he said the country needs modernisaion of the port management to bring competitiveness of the businesses globally while the flow of both local and foreign investment requires to be enhanced significantly for overall economic growth.

But within just 13 days, the government approved and signed large foreign investment agreements over two ports. It largely surprised him, he said.
