Dhaka, Aug. 15 -- Workers of Chittagong Urea Fertilizer Limited (CUFL), under Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC), staged a protest and meeting on Wednesday, demanding the elimination of longstanding disparities in pay and incentives among different categories of employees.
According to the protesters, all officers and staff in government and autonomous institutions are covered by the national pay scale or its equivalent. However, BCIC maintains two separate pay structures. While officers receive salaries based on the national pay scale, skilled operators and technicians are still paid under what the protesters describe as a "discriminatory" wage scale.
