Dhaka, Jan. 2 -- CHATTOGRAM, Jan 01: Chittagong Port, the maritime gateway of Bangladesh, has achieved a historic milestone by handling the highest number of containers in 2025.
The prime seaport handled a total of 3.40 million (34,09,069) TEUs (20-foot equivalent units) of containers, 138.15 million (13,81,51,812) tonnes of cargoes and 4,273 ships during the period.
According to the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA), there has been an increase of 4.07 per cent in container handling, 11.43 per cent in cargo handling and 10.50 percent in ship handling compared to 2024. Earlier in 2024, the port handled a total of 3.27 million TEUs of containers, 123 million tonnes of cargoes and 3,867 ships.
