Dhaka, May 27 -- Commerce Adviser Sk. Bashir Uddin has urged Algeria to import jute goods and traditional products from Bangladesh.
He made the request during a meeting with Algerian Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdelouahab Saidani at the adviser's Secretariat office in Dhaka on Monday.
In the meeting, they emphasised the need to further strengthen bilateral trade and relations between the two nations.
Mr. Bashir also urged the Algerian envoy to support efforts to increase Algerian investments in Bangladesh.
Urging Algerian importers to import jute and traditional products from Bangladesh, he said Bangladesh is the world's second-largest jute producer.
Jute and Bangladesh are often considered synonymous globally, he added.
