Dhaka, May 20 -- The Chittagong Custom House (CCH) collected a total of Tk 628.18 billion in taxes in the first ten months of fiscal year (FY) 2024-25.
CCH sources said a drop in imports of some goods, as well as the government's duty exemptions, resulted in a revenue shortfall of about Tk 78.13 billion, as CCH targeted to collect Tk 706.31 billion from July 2024 to April 2025.
The target of CCH of collection of revenue in the 2024-25 fiscal is Tk 804.02 billion. To meet the target, the CCH has to collect Tk 175.83 billion in the months of May and June of FY25. However, CCH could not achieve its target at any time in the last five FYs.
