Dhaka, July 24 -- The government has appointed Prof Dr Md Maksud Helali, a retired BUET mechanical engineering professor, as the new vice-chancellor of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET).

The education ministry issued a notification on Thursday, confirming the appointment with the approval of the president and chancellor.

Dr Helali will serve a four-year term from the date of joining. He will receive the same salary and benefits he was entitled to before retiring from BUET and enjoy all facilities attached to the post. He must stay on campus full-time. The appointment can be cancelled at any time by the president if necessary.
