Dhaka, July 20 -- Bangladesh's coastal belt continues to face a severe drinking water crisis, driven by salinity intrusion, inadequate infrastructure, and the growing impacts of climate change. In response to these pressing challenges, BRAC, in collaboration with the International Water and Sanitation Centre (IRC) and with financial support from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands (EKN), organised a Water Hackathon to identify and promote innovative, community-centred solutions.
On Saturday, 19 July 2025, two initiatives were announced as the first and second prize winners in the final round of the Hackathon, held at the BRAC Centre in Mohakhali, according to a press release.
