Dhaka, March 5 -- The Bangladesh Railway (BR) will start sale of train tickets for the homebound passengers on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr on March 14 to operate the first intercity Eid trains on March 24.

The state-owned train operator is expected to sell 35,315 tickets daily (cent per cent online) during the upcoming Eid festival, whereas the number was 33,500 last year.

A meeting on BR's Eid preparation on Tuesday, led by its Director General Afzal Hossain, decided to operate eight special trains alongside regular intercity and express trains to facilitate the homebound passengers. But the total number of specially operated trains is yet to be finalised.
