Dhaka, Feb. 11 -- The interim government has extended the tenure of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Administrator Md Anwar Hossain, who is also vice chairman of the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB), by four months.
As per a circular issued by the commerce ministry recently, the BGMEA administrator's tenure has been extended until June 16 this year, with effect from February 17.
The decision was taken with an aim to facilitate the biennial election of the trade body.
Following the resignation of the association's president SM Mannan Kochi on August 24 last year, Md Anwar Hossain was appointed as BGMEA administrator on October 20 following a mass uprising.
