Dhaka, Dec. 11 -- Md Ebadul Karim, managing director of Beacon Pharmaceuticals PLC, and director of Kohinoor Chemicals Co. (BD) Ltd, passed away on Thursday.

He breathed his last at 9:00 am while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka.

Karim was a prominent figure in Bangladesh's pharmaceutical and consumer goods industries. Under his leadership, Beacon Pharmaceuticals became one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in the country, while Kohinoor Chemicals continued to be a major manufacturer of soaps and cosmetics.

His funeral prayer (janaza) will be held today after Asr prayer at Gulshan Society Mosque.
