Bangladesh, March 21 -- The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) has named Dr. Shahidur Rashid, a native of Bangladesh, as new regional director for South Asia, based in New Delhi, India.

Dr. Rashid will assume his new position on April 16, 2019, succeeding Dr. PK Joshi of India, said a press release, issued recently from Washington DC.

"Shahid has a strong research record, he has successfully managed large projects in Ethiopia and Bangladesh as well as several multi-country research projects in both Africa and Asia...," it said, quoting the IFPRI Director General Dr. Shenggen Fan.
