Dhaka, May 5 -- No cattle will be allowed to enter the country, as the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock imposed a ban on cattle import on Sunday.
Farida Akhter, adviser of the ministry, stated that cattle imports would not be permitted this year for the Eid-ul-Adha due to a surplus of livestock in the country compared to the demand. There would likely be a surplus of around 2.06 million animals this year.
She mentioned that no cattle would be allowed to enter the country through illegal channels starting Sunday, and the entry of cattle from foreign countries in any form would be completely banned.
