Dhaka, June 26 -- Law Affairs Adviser Asif Nazrul has said that he faces online smear campaigns for turning down what he describes as 'unethical lobbying efforts'.

"As soon as I refuse to entertain them, I am branded as an 'Indian agent'. Some even produce programmes referencing things associated with me from 40 to 50 years ago," he told a discussion held at the CIRDAP auditorium in Dhaka on Thursday.

"I quietly tolerate it, like an oyster. I do not take any action-not even respond, let alone pursue legal steps," he added.

The Centre for Governance Studies (CGS) organised the dialogue with its executive director, Zillur Rahman, moderating it.
