Dhaka, Jan. 5 -- The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed a case against former lawmaker and ex-mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh.
His wife, Afrin Taposh, has also been named in the case, according to bdnews24.com.
The case was filed on Sunday, Mohammad Akhtar Hossain, the ACC's director-general (prevention) confirmed.
According to the case details, Taposh is accused of illegally accumulating and possessing assets worth Tk 731.9 million, which is inconsistent with his declared sources of income.
Evidence was also found of abnormal transactions in his 27 bank accounts, amounting to Tk 5.39 billion and $517,527.
