Dhaka, April 12 -- At least 604 people, including 89 women and 97 children, were killed and 1231 others injured in road accidents last month (March), according to a report of the Road Safety Foundation (RSF).

The casualties occurred in some 587 road accidents across the country, the report published on Saturday said.

Of the total, 233 people died in 242 motorcycle accidents, which is 38,57 per cent of the total deaths. Motorcycle accident rate is 41.22 per cent.

As many as 109 pedestrians were killed in road accidents, which is 18.04 per cent of the total fatalities. 98 drivers and assistants, 16.22 per cent, were killed.
