Dhaka, March 1 -- At least 50 people were injured in a clash between two groups in a village in Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah district over dues and establishing supremacy.

The incident took place at Roya village in the upazila on Saturday morning, according to media reports.

Citing locals, police said there was a dispute between the supporters of Mokaddes Hossain of the same area and UP member Abu Saleh Musa of the village for a long time.

On Friday night, Musa's supporter Akmal and Mokaddes's supporter Sujan clashed over the demand for money owed.

In the morning, people from both sides clashed with indigenous weapons.
