Dhaka, Feb. 9 -- Gazipur police have arrested 40 Awami League leaders and activists as part of the nationwide crackdown under 'Operation Devil Hunt'.
The arrests were made across five police stations in Gazipur, a local daily newspaper reports.
Army personnel have established a checkpoint in front of the Gazipur Deputy Commissioner's office, conducting searches on various vehicles, including motorcycles.
The operation follows a violent attack on students at the residence of AKM Mozammel Haque, a former government minister, on Friday night (Feb 7).
In response, the Home Ministry launched the operation, leading to joint force raids from Saturday night (Feb 8).
