Dhaka, Dec. 2 -- A moderate earthquake struck near Falam in Myanmar shortly before 1:00 am on Tuesday and was felt in parts of Chattogram.

According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the quake occurred at 12:55am Bangladesh time, registering 4.9 on the Richter scale.

The epicentre was located 81.8km east of Falam, in Myanmar's Chin State, with the earthquake originating at a depth of approximately 106.8km.

Many residents in Chattogram reported feeling the tremor, although no damage or casualties have been reported so far, according to a bdnews24.com report.

This follows a 5.7-magnitude earthquake on November 21, which shook much of Bangladesh and was among the most fatal in recent decades, leaving at least 10 people dead.
