Dhaka, Feb. 12 -- Some 32.88 per cent of votes have been cast at 32,789 polling centres across the country as of 12:00 pm today.

Election Commission (EC) Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed informed journalists of this development at 12.00 pm at the EC headquarters in the city's Agargaon area.

Voting officially began at 7:30 am and will continue until 4:30 pm.

According to sources, voting is going on peacefully across the country except for some untoward incidents.

More than 127.7 million voters are eligible to cast their ballots in this election.

Voting is taking place simultaneously in 299 parliamentary constituencies across the country.
