Dhaka, April 24 -- The World Bank (WB) has forecast that another three million people in Bangladesh will sink below the extreme poverty line this year due to the ongoing slowdown in economic activities following the shift in the political landscape.
It is expected to raise the country's rate of extreme poverty from 7.7 percent in 2023 to 9.3 percent by the end of this year, according to a Bangladesh development update by the global lender released on Wednesday.
It predicts that the rate may be 6.1 percent in the ongoing FY2025, reports bdnews24.com.
