Dhaka, Jan. 29 -- Bangladesh on Thursday brought back 128 Bangladeshi fishermen who had been detained in India, while simultaneously repatriating 23 Indian fishermen held in Bangladesh, under a mutual repatriation arrangement between the two neighbouring countries.
The Bangladesh Coast Guard received the 128 fishermen along with five Bangladeshi fishing boats from the Indian Coast Guard during a handover ceremony at the international maritime boundary line in the Bay of Bengal, UNB reported citing a press release.
In return, Bangladesh handed over 23 Indian fishermen and two Indian fishing boats to the Indian Coast Guard at the same location, according to a press release.
