Dhaka, Feb. 15 -- Ten people have been killed and 19 others injured as a car carrying devotees for the Maha Kumbh Mela festival collided with a bus in India's Uttar Pradesh.

The accident occurred on the Mirzapur-Prayagraj highway near the Meja Police Station in Prayagraj around 2:00 am on Saturday, according to a Hindustan Times report run by bdnews24.com.

The devotees were headed from Chhattisgarh's Korba for a holy dip at the Sangam during the Kumbh while the bus was reportedly carrying pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh's Rajgarh.

The accident is believed to have occurred because the driver of the car dozed off and lost control of the vehicle.
