Dhaka, Feb. 12 -- Former Exim Bank Chairman Nazrul Islam Mazumder has told a Dhaka court that he was compelled to go to Ganabhaban and speak there.

He made the remark on Wednesday morning as he was produced before Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judges' Court in two separate fresh murder cases.

Alleging that Mazumder was among those who were involved in plotting the July mass killing, Chief Public Prosecutor Omar Faruq Faruqi asked the court to place him on remand.

Strongly opposing the remand, Mazumder's legal team presented counter arguments one after another not to place him on remand, asserting that their client had no role in the mass killing.
