Tanzania, Dec. 31 -- Arusha. Experts have warned that climate change-linked hazards can significantly impact on mental health.

This is manifested in stress at the family level on failure to put enough food on the table due to reduced crop harvests.

A survey has shown that violence within families could be one of the consequences of climate change impacts.

Findings by the African Coalition of Communities Responsive to Climate Change have found a linkage between unfavourable weather conditions and mental health.

"Shifting weather patterns are already driving food prices up. This is increasing stress at family level," said Dr. Pamela Nkirote, the organisation's executive director.
