Dhaka, March 14 -- Following air, road and rail, Bangladesh and India is going to be connected by river routes with introduction of ship service between Dhaka and Kolkata on March 29.

Intending visitors to India will be able to travel to Kolkata from Dhaka by the ship 'MV Madhumati' from March 29 through inland water route,.

A press release of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) said that the service is being commenced under the Bangladesh-India Water Protocol Agreement to ease transportation between the two countries.

Currently tourists can travel between Dhaka and Kolkata either by bus, train or air. Besides, cargo ships carrying fly ash and coal also move between the two countries.
