New Delhi, June 26 -- An exchange of fire began on Wednesday between the security forces and terrorists in the Tral forest area of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district.
Security forces launched cordon and search operation in the area following specific information about the presence of a group of terrorists there, police sources said.
As the cordon around the hiding terrorists was tightened, they fired upon the security forces and the latter retaliated triggering an encounter.
Kashmir Zone Police tweeted, "Exchange of fire between #securityforces & #terrorists at #Tral. Area under #cordon. Details shall follow."
Exchange of fire is underway, sources added.
