INDIA, April 25 -- The Supreme court on Thursday, at hearing on conspiracy against Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said that there was a systematic attack on the institution. The Bench asserted that the rich and powerful cannot run the Court.
"Don't play with fire. We want to send a message to the people of this country, the rich and powerful that they cannot control or run this court," the bench said.
The apex court's remarks came during a hearing on the affidavit by a lawyer claiming there was a conspiracy behind framing the CJI in a sexual harassment case.
A special bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra expressed anguish over the way the institution was being treated over the last three-four years.
