New Delhi, Dec. 15 -- India's largest IT services company, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) on Monday announced a new office in Bucharest, expanding its footprint in Romania as it strengthens its European delivery network.
Located in the Floreasca business district, the facility will serve as a digital engineering services hub, enhancing TCS' local capabilities and near-shore delivery for European clients. More than 95% of the workforce at the centre comprises Romanian nationals, underlining the company's focus on local talent.
The expansion follows TCS' recent launch of a Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) innovation hub in Bucharest, aimed at supporting global automotive clients as they transition to next-generation mobility solutions.
The new office will become a key part of TCS' European delivery network, which serves over 350 customers across 20 countries and employs more than 15,000 professionals in the region. The network enables TCS to offer culturally aligned, compliant and near-shore services tailored to client needs, the company said.
TCS entered the Romanian market in 2019, as an extension of its presence in Europe. The new office is a testament to the country's business potential, powered by a highly skilled talent pool. This expansion reinforces TCS' long-standing commitment to serving as a trusted IT partner for European enterprises over the last four decades.
Prabal Datta, General Manager and Delivery Centre Head, TCS Eastern Europe, said, "Romania's vibrant talent pool, particularly in engineering, makes it a strategic hub for TCS as part of its global delivery network. This new space will enable us to further strengthen our capabilities in areas like engineering and software-defined vehicles and power transmission, while continuing to onboard exceptional local talent."
The Romania expansion comes amid a broader push by India's largest IT services firm to deepen its digital, cloud and AI capabilities. Last week, TCS announced its largest-ever acquisition, US-based Salesforce consultancy Coastal Cloud, for $700 million, and unveiled an AI-focused data centre joint venture with TPG.
The Indian tech firm is further working with Microsoft to overhaul sales, HR and finance operations using Copilot and GitHub Copilot. Tens of thousands of TCS professionals have already been equipped with Microsoft AI tools, and employees now have access to a personalised AI coach. In November, TCS also signed a five-year partnership with SAP to help enterprises accelerate cloud adoption and generative AI-led transformation.
