Invenia-STL secures data centre infrastructure contract from PowerGrid Teleservices

Invenia-STL Networks has secured a Rs.360 crore contract from PowerGrid Teleservices, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL). Under the agreement, Invenia will design, build, commission, and maintain the IT and cloud infrastructure for a greenfield Tier III data centre at PowerGrid's Manesar facility. In addition, Invenia will establish a Disaster Recovery Data Centre (DRDC) and deliver a scalable Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solution complemented by Disaster Recovery Services. The contract includes Operation & Maintenance (O&M), ensuring the long-term performance and operational readiness of the data center.

Equinix India sets up data centre in Chennai

Equinix launched a new data centre in Chennai on Friday. A colocation facility, Equinix is calling this new infrastructure an International Business Exchange. Built on a six-acre plot of land, this new facility will be interconnected with Equinix's Mumbai campus, which consists of three IBX data centres, to support business digitization and resilience, as well as AI development in India. The facility has been built with an initial investment of $69 million to provide 800 cabinets of capacity, which can be expanded to support 4,250 cabinets. Equinix plans to grow this infrastructure in three more phases, expected to be completed in the next 4-5 years; the company hasn't revealed the overall outlay of the entire project. IndiaAI Mission announces second cohort of firms for building AI models The Indian government has widened the scope of its flagship IndiaAI Mission, selecting eight new firms and institutions in the second phase to build foundational artificial intelligence models. Leading the charge is BharatGen, a consortium anchored by IIT Bombay, which has been tasked with developing models that could scale up to a trillion parameters, putting India in the league of global AI heavyweights. Alongside BharatGen, Tech Mahindra, and Fractal Analytics have been roped in. The other companies named in Phase 2 are Avataar AI, ZeinTeiq Aitech Innovations, Genloop Intelligence, NeuroDX (Intellihealth), and Shodh AI.

SAP rolls out Sovereign Cloud in India

Enterprise software major SAP on Thursday announced the launch of its SAP Sovereign Cloud in India, a move the company described as a milestone in the country's journey toward digital sovereignty. The offering is designed in compliance with India's National Information Security Policy & Guidelines (NISPG) and is targeted at governments and regulated industries seeking to modernise with cloud and AI while retaining control over sensitive data and systems.

Built as a full-stack framework that spans infrastructure, platform, applications, and AI, the Sovereign Cloud leverages SAP's sovereign controls alongside an open-source foundation. Customers can choose from multiple deployment models, including SAP Sovereign Cloud On-Site, hosted in their own data centres, or a hyperscaler-based model in partnership with AWS.

Uneecops buys majority stake in TechMatrix

New Delhi-based IT solutions provider Uneecops Group has acquired a majority stake in TechMatrix Consulting, a Singapore-based AI solutions provider, in a move to enhance its AI, analytics, and customer engagement offerings. The deal, advised by Iliant Capital, aims to create a unified platform that integrates CRM, data analytics, and artificial intelligence to drive enterprise transformation across sectors and regions. The deal amount has not been disclosed. The partnership is expected to expand Uneecops' presence in India, the Asia-Pacific (APAC), and the Middle East and Africa (MEA), while deepening its capabilities in high-growth industries such as BFSI, automotive, manufacturing, retail, and healthcare
