New Delhi, Dec. 23 -- HCL Technologies' software arm, HCLSoftware, has agreed to acquire Jaspersoft from Cloud Software Group for $240 million in an all-cash deal, as the company sharpens its focus on data, analytics and artificial intelligence-led enterprise software.
The acquisition, expected to close within six months of signing, will see Jaspersoft - a provider of embedded analytics and pixel-perfect reporting tools - become part of HCLSoftware's Data & AI division, Actian. About 115 employees across geographies will move to HCLSoftware as part of the transaction.
The deal strengthens HCLSoftware's presence in embedded analytics and business intelligence, particularly in highly regulated sectors such as government, banking and financial services, where Jaspersoft has built a strong customer base.
HCLSoftware said demand for its Data & AI portfolio, including metadata management, data cataloguing and data governance, has grown steadily over the past five years as enterprises modernise data platforms and prepare them for AI use cases. Integrating Jaspersoft will allow Actian to offer an end-to-end data management and analytics stack, spanning ingestion, governance and reporting.
"As GenAI adoption accelerates, our customers want business intelligence solutions that can deliver consistent analytics and reports, while giving them full control over the analytics experience," said Marc Potter, chief executive of Actian and portfolio general manager of HCLSoftware's Data & AI division. "With Jaspersoft, we can deliver AI-powered embedded analytics with strong architectural flexibility, enabling high-volume pixel-perfect reporting and interactive dashboards inside customer-facing applications."
Jaspersoft is widely used by software vendors and enterprises to embed reporting and analytics directly into applications, rather than relying on standalone BI tools. Its focus on precision reporting has made it a preferred choice in compliance-heavy environments where accuracy and auditability are critical.
Steven Schneider, general manager of the analytics business unit at Cloud Software Group, said Jaspersoft had earned the trust of customers globally through its embedded analytics capabilities and that HCLSoftware was a "strong strategic owner" for the business.
The Jaspersoft acquisition comes close on the heels of another data-and-AI-focused buyout announced by HCLSoftware earlier this week. In a separate disclosure to the stock exchanges, the company said it would acquire Belgium-based early-stage startup Wobby for about Rs.47 crore (€4.5 million).
Wobby develops AI data analyst "agents" for data warehouses, designed to help enterprises extract insights faster using GenAI. The deal, structured as a 100% cash transaction, includes €3 million payable at closing and deferred payments of €0.75 million each at the first and second anniversary of the closing. The acquisition is expected to close by February 2026.
Together, the two deals signal HCLSoftware's intent to deepen capabilities across the data-to-insights pipeline - from governed enterprise data foundations to embedded analytics and AI-driven analysis - as large enterprises look to move beyond experimentation and operationalise GenAI at scale.
