
New Delhi, March 17 -- Annapurna Vishwanathan has moved on from her role as Chief Information Officer (CIO) at Cummins India, a position she held since March 2021, to become the Vice President and Head of Infrastructure Management and Digital for India and South Asia at Airbus, the largest aerospace company in Europe.
Under Vishwanathan's leadership, Cummins India, a prominent Fortune 500 firm specialising in engine design and manufacturing, undertook a significant digital transformation aimed at fully digitising its operations and various components.
In her new capacity, she will oversee the IT and technological frameworks that underpin business operations and other essential functions. In a post on LinkedIn, Vishwanathan mentioned that she is embarking on her new role at Airbus.
With nearly two decades of expertise in technology management, software development, and digital transformation, Vishwanathan previously directed digital initiatives at Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) India, where she served as a digital manager for over two years.
Her career includes more than a decade at GE, where she was appointed to the digital business leadership team in India, contributing to the establishment of the digital hub. A highlight of her tenure at GE was collaborating with global IT leaders to identify outsourcing opportunities and develop those capabilities within the Indian digital hub.
She holds a Six Sigma certification and completed her studies at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. Recognised as "CIO of the Year" in Industrial Manufacturing and a "Leading CIO" by CII, as well as being acknowledged as a prominent "Woman in AI" by IBM, Annapurna is a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion. As the proponent of the India Pride Employee Resource Group at Cummins, she has led initiatives to empower the LGBTQ+ community, served as a dedicated Pride Ally, and actively mentored emerging talent.
