Sri Lanka, Aug. 10 -- Sri Lanka's ace sprinter Yupun Abeykoon clinched the Men's 100m event at the Zbigniew Ludwichowski World Athletic Continental Tour in Poland.
Abeykoon won the event with a time of 10.36 seconds and also went on to set a new competition record.
After his victory, Abeykoon said that he is running despite the sleepless nights and a tiring schedule and with the aim of qualifying for the upcoming World Athletics Championships.
"I am proud to break the competition record and show the Sri Lankan flag on the timing board. I have shown the world that a small island in the Indian Ocean can shine even in Europe. That is why we are here in Europe," Abeykoon stressed.
