Srilanka, July 21 -- The following is a wide-ranging interview with Minister of Public Security, Attorney-at-Law Sunil Watagala.

Addressing some of the most pressing and controversial issues facing Sri Lanka's political and security landscape, Watagala dismissed accusations of politicising the public service, defended ongoing legal reforms, and responded to criticism surrounding former Public Security Minister Tiran Alles, the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA).

Watagala, a vocal figure within the current administration, outlined the Government's vision for institutional reform, stressing accountability, the rule of law, and what he claims is a decisive break from the culture of impunity of past regimes.
