SriLanka, Jan. 25 -- Ven. Balangoda Kassapa Thera, who is in remand custody, has been admitted to the Trincomalee District General Hospital for medical examinations following an illness, Prison Media Spokesperson A. C. Gajanayake said.
According to the spokesperson, the Thera was taken to hospital for medical checks, including blood tests, after complaining of ill health.
The Thera and ten others were remanded until January 28 in connection with alleged violations of coastal conservation laws linked to the placement of a Buddha statue at the Trincomalee Bodhiraja Vihara in November 2025.
