Sri Lanka, Oct. 12 -- The Mount Lavinia Police have launched an investigation into an incident of criminal intimidation and threats made against a police officer by a Senior Counsel within the premises of the Mount Lavinia Magistrate's Court on Friday.
Acting Police Spokesperson ASP Minura Senarath said that Senior Counsel Gunaratne Wanninayake and a junior counsel attached to his chambers have been summoned to the Mount Lavinia Police Station today to provide statements regarding the incident.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Priyantha Weerasooriya told the media that directives have been issued to ensure a thorough investigation into the incident. "The Police will stand by the police officer," he said.
